This is the 2nd Amerileather bag I've purchased . I bought the first one for my teenage daughter more than 1 year ago and it's still going strong. This bag will be a gift for a family friend going off to college. I know she'll love it and I'm betting she'll receive as many compliments as my daughter did. For other reviewers who complained about the smell of the bag----that's the smell of new leather. Buy with confidence.
This is attractive but a little too flimsy for what I had in mind.
I may buy another, for a gift, I liked it so much.
I originally thought that the "canvas" that was mentioned in the description meant the INSIDE of the bag, but the tan you see surrounding the flowers IS the canvas as well. Having said that, I was a little disappointed, BUT I love this bag because it is relatively lightweight yet sturdy. I have to carry so much as a teacher and heavy bags can throw out my back. What I LOVED specifically were the colors, the size (it is currently holding research papers that I have to grade, and a LOT of them), and that wonderful smell of REAL leather on top of the canvas. I also love the flat straps--it's always better when one is prone to back problems--a doctor told me that! I have gotten more compliments on this bag than any I have owned the past. Also, you do not have to use the long, detachable strap if you don't want to--the shorter ones are long enough to sling over your shoulder. Took this bag on vacation to Disneyworld in April 2012 with 3 little children for 7 days. The bag still looks brand new. It's so gorgeous that when I placed it in the overhead compartment in the airplane, another female passenger who was sharing the same overhead space told me that she'd be really careful not to damage my beautiful bag! I would like this to be even larger if possible (width-wise). The height is perfect. The shoulder straps are long enough to carry on my shoulders. They did slip off many times, but this didn't bug me too much. The quality is fantastic, and the way Overstock/Rioni packages this to ship is amazing.
