It all depends on what kind of boot your looking for. This is an ascetics boot and it's for ascetic purposes. The leather on my boots is squeaky but not terribly irritating. The three eye system is sometimes noisome, and holds the boot at the ankle rather oddly but overall the result is the same: the boot stays on your foot. The leather on the boots is not waterproofed and despite my efforts is determined to remain that way. The tread at the bottom is capable of gripping a variety of surfaces and does not produce too much resistance when walking. The boots take a little while to break in and the creases, which I assume would be different from person to person, do detract from the overall appearance of the boot. I'm not yet prepared to say that the boot is comfortable, but I can say that it is at the least tolerable.
