My daughter is thrilled with this coat. I think it was a little overpriced for the quality, although the 3-in-1 feature makes up for it a little. (We bought a Lands End coat for not much more that was much better quality and had a lot of extra features. This one seems more like something you'd get at Target.) There was a little hole caused by bad stitching at the corner of one pocket, and the zipper separated from the bottom once and got jammed. Also, like many non-down coats, it's pretty bulky. However, in all other respects it's a nice coat. The outer fabric is nice and thick, and it doesn't look cheap. It comes with a reversible zip-out liner (fleece on one side, nylon on the other side) like the 3-in-1 jacket systems that are common now. The liner can be worn by itself on cool days. The outer shell (which is padded and thick) will be warm enough for most NYC winter days without the liner. With the liner inside, it will be extremely warm (if a little bulky) and appropriate for very cold days. We ordered a size 4 for my petite 5-year-old (40.5 inches, 33 lbs). On her, it's big around the middle, which means that the wind gets in there on very cold or windy days. But height-wise (overall length and arm length) it fits well, with a little growing room.
