Positives: The fabric is very thick, durable and high quality, the lining is very warm and adds a heaviness and structure to the jacket I did not expect, I wear it in Illinois in December and I am fine. I think the fit is nice, I can wear a light sweater under this coat and it still keeps a nice, elegant silouette. I have another London Fog coat in black which has much thinner fabric and is unlined, and this one feels so much more substantial and luxurious.
Negatives- The buttons! Get ready to dismantle and re-sew all the buttons yourself! This also happened with my other coat. The thread securing the buttons is just tied with one big knot which comes loose very easily. The first to go are the ones on the botttom or that rub near the belt. I also added an extra hook and eye closure to allow the jacket to be closed all the way up to the neck like my other coat. It can be done on this coat and looks normal. It bothers me to have an open neck on a rain jacket in blustery winds, a scarf does not cut it.
