The subtle pattern makes this coat more interesting than the usual black coats that I end up with. It is appropriately sized and proportioned (sleeves long enough, etc.). A couple of buttons were loose upon arrival, which was disappointing, but easily corrected. For the brand and quality, a definite value!!
I got this coat because it looked really nice online, and Jones New York coats are usually good. But then when I got it, the coat looked and felt cheap. It was also broken on the belt buckle. I had to send it back not only because it was defective, but it also not the quality I was expecting.
The coat is actually darker than it appears on the page, but still very nice. I ordered mine a size larger than I normally would have, thinking I'd need extra room for layers since it looked very fitted, but that's not the case. Order the size you normally would, and you should be fine. Also, the belt buckle that is on the waist belt isn't big enough and makes it hard to get the thick belt through, so I just took the belt buckle right off and now tie the belt. It works very well. The coat is also very good for cold weather. It even keeps me warm against Wisconsin's -30 wind chills! -- Very good buy, would recommend to any friend.
The coat's material was "rougher" than I expected; however, after a few wears, the coat softened. Also, after my first wear the coat left hairs all over my clothes. I used a lint brush on it and haven't had any issues since. After the initial "breaking-in" process, the coat has become a great warm addition to my outerwear collection.
I bought this coat since I thought it would be fun to have a plaid cloth that wasn't too obvious. Once it arrived, the coat didn't appear as a appealing as it did online. Secondly, the coat was itchy (in comparison to my old wool coat, which never bother me.)
