An affordable superb overcoat made in the USA
The coat's cut is very much bespoke Savile Row (British) but has elements of Italian bespoke tailoring such as pick stitching on the lapels and pocket flaps. The so-called ticket pocket is a fine touch which very typical of Savile Row bespoke designs. The fit and finish is top notch as expected from Hart Schaffner Marx. And what I like the most is that the coat is made in the USA. The fabric's composition is 90% wool and 10% cashmere which is a perfect compromise in terms of durability and appearance. The fabric is silky smooth to the touch and has a slight shine due to the cashmere content. The color of the fabric is a sightly shiny jet black. In my opinion this overcoat can be worn over a suit just as well over a pair of jeans. One of the reviewers were complaining that the fabric is too thin and such. That is not correct. The 'thickness" of the coat is just right. And since the fabric is 90%-10% cashmere its insulation properties are far better than wool-poly blend coats of twice the thickness. I highly recommend this coat at this price point which would easily retail of three times as much in a department store.

Exellent value
My experience with Hart, Schaffner and Marx (HSM) goes back 60 years, when my dad sat me down and explained what to look for and what to avoid when investing in men's garments. This HSM wool-cashmere-blend topcoat is well-made and well-tailored, right down to smaller details such as top-quality linings, and pockets everywhere you expect them to be (plus a convenient small theatre-ticket/car-key pocket just above the right-side outside glove pocket.) 10% cashmere content is about right--enough to add a nice "hand" and slight sheen to the fabric, but not enough to affect overall durability. I gave this garment 4 stars rather than 5 because of a minor but careless detail in sewing on the three main buttons. These are backed by small buttons inside, a quality tailoring touch, but the thread on the middle one started to come untied at the first wearing and was almost lost. The fastening thread looks sturdy, but this one had not been tied off at all. I suggest checking the "button security" before wearing. A drop of super glue where the threads cross the backups should lock them for the life of the garment if any look insecure.

Amazing Coat
This is by far the best purchase on Overstock I have made. As a ex ***** employee specializing in high end men's clothing I know that Hart Schaffner and Marx make very quality products at the level of Hickey Freeman. This coat is fully hand pick stitched on the lapels outer edge and around the pockets. Coats of this quality usaully sell for $*****. The original price tag was on the coat at ***** retail. This coat is a deal at twice the price. Buy it you won't be disappointed.

A lot of coat for the price
I resently saw this coat in a major store for the price on the sleeve tag. For the purchase price, this one of the best values! It looks great on the picture but it even more stunning in person! The pick stitching, wool and cashmere blend are very stylish. The feel and appearance of this coat speak quality. Anyone who knows fashion will immediately notice this coat and assume you have paid mid to high three figures for it. I have worn it in rain and 30 to 40 degree weather and was comfortly warm. If your size is available buy it!

CASHMERE BLEND TOP COAT
I WAS AMAZED AT THE QUALITY OF THIS COAT AT THE PRICE. IT IS ELEGANT AND LUXURIOUS WITH ITS "ATTENTION TO DETAIL" TAILORING. I HAVE LOOKED AT COATS FOR $350 PLUS THAT WERE NOT AS NICE. I'D SAY IT WAS THE NICEST TOP COAT I'VE SEEN AT A RIDICULOUS LOW PRICE.

Sizing poor for a nice coat
I did not like the touch or feel of the fabric. It was not a typical overcoat fabric. It seems to have an almost horse hair feel. Not soft at all. Also, size was not accurate. I intentionally sized the coat by trying on coats in Bloomingdales, Nordstroms, Nieman Marcus. This coat was much smaller than it should have been. I am VEY disappointed that I am having to sned this back. Not happy that I am having to spend my gift certificate dollars to mail back an item that does not fit as it should. It was NOT a 42 Short. Period. The material was not quality as described.
