DKNY Women's Down Hooded Parka

For a DKNY coat with plenty of pockets (including two inner "secret" pockets that zip closed), a removable hood (with a luxurious velvety lining), and plenty of toasty insulation, I thought the price tag on this coat was too good to pass up! I've been looking for a longer winter coat with a detachable hood, which I wanted to pair with both trousers and jeans; denim skirts and fancier dresses. When the coat arrived, I noticed that it smelled a bit "off." I assumed that the chemical-like odor was from the plastic bag in which it was wrapped, so I hung the coat up to "air out" overnight. I did try the coat on upon receiving it, though--before it was "aired out"--and the chemical smell clung to my skin, hair, clothes, and--later--bedsheets. After wearing the coat for only two minutes, yes--the heavy-duty chemical smell completely PERMEATED my body. Now, the coat is also a bit "frumpy" looking and shapeless on me, and even though I ordered the smallest available size (extra-small) because I'm petite (5'2", under 100 pounds), the coat still floated around me as if I had ordered a large. I seriously wonder if this coat was mislabeled, just due to the oversized nature of it! But back to the smell--over 24 hours after receiving the coat, and having moved it to another room to "air out," since my bedroom has begun to smell like a chemical plant, I realize that I cannot live with this smell. It is an odor reminiscent of alcohol and plastic chemicals, with a tough of acridness. That being said, as of today, this coat is on its way back to Overstock.com. It's a pity because I did fancy it, despite it being too large. It IS well-made, and would most likely look wonderful on someone taller and more curvy. But the smell! Overstock.com, you should have some sort of quality control over such things! I'm completely upset that I now have to lose out on my shipping return fee, too. This is the first and last time I buy a coat online.
