Well-Constructed Coat
from Silicon Valley, CA,  Dec 9, 2010

For the longest time I have been searching for a well-made, light color trench coat that won't break the bank. After years without much success I stumble across this trench coat on Overstock. Other than it being DKNY, the price, for one, can't be beat. I originally wanted a light-weight trench coat of a different color like bone or stone rather than the dark khaki being offered. Ultimately I decided to forego my fixation on the color and give it a go after reading the many good reviews. The shipment arrived fairly quickly and I was quite impressed by the quality and soft texture of the coat. I even wore it in the rain just to see how water-resistant the fabric is and I was quite impressed. The coat kept me dry underneath after being out in a light drizzle for approximately 30 min. It's not too thick and very comfortable. I am 5'4", 113 lbs and ordered size XS. It fits fine on me but looks better when I have heels on. It's a great buy and I highly recommend this coat to all out there who is seeking for an affordable, versatile trench.

Beautiful Trench Coat.
from San Jose, CA,  Aug 8, 2011

I am a 5'3'', weight 122 pounds. cup size 34C, I would say my arm is a little bit bulky due to lots of activities like rafting and swimming, so I was a little worried when I ordered the XS (The note did say order one size smaller. I am normally size small, dress size 4). It fit perfect!!! It hugs my body well, still has enough room for sweater underneath. :) My arm does not feel tight at all. It also does not look bulky on you ( I tend to hate the type of coats which make you looks ridiculously huge) The camel color is beautiful, looking elegant. I don't really like the material for the buttons, but oh well, it's pretty damn good coat for this price. The belt is long and can be wrapped around my body twice, I am fine with that, or you can just tie it as in the picture and it's still gonna look good. :) I am very happy with the coat, can't wait for Fall to come!!!

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? The same
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. The material is great. The belt and button look a little cheap, but over all, very good for the price
  • How accurate was the sizing? Thanks to the Note, it's was perfect.

really stylish, flattering, well-made coat
from Northeast Georgia,  Jan 28, 2011

I love this coat!!! The design, fit, and styling are wonderful. Stylish without being too trendy, feminine without being too "girly," and very flattering and slim-fitting without being tight or constricting. The outer material is substantial and silky but still water-repellent, and the lining is a really nice, soft, high-quality navy satin. If I saw someone else wearing it, I would assume they paid much more for it than I paid here! I have tried it with both a thinner cotton turtleneck and a t-shirt with a fairly heavy wool cardigan underneath, and was pleasantly surprised that it worked great with both--I didn't feel the underarms digging at all with the thicker cardigan and t-shirt, and the arms and top still had the nice, slim look somehow in spite of the extra layers. It will also be perfect over lighter clothing, so I anticipate getting a lot of use out of it across seasons. The camel color is great and is exactly as pictured. I wear a 6 in dresses and 6/8 in pants, with a D-cup bustline, and the small fits me just as I want it to--the belt comes up a bit higher on me than the model, but I expected that due to our difference in measurements. I can wear it buttoned up all the way without it looking too tight on top, but also wore it with just the bottom two buttons done and tied at the waist and it looked really cute that way too (important for women with larger bustlines to consider!). My coat did have one issue--there was a small black ink pen mark on one sleeve--but I kept it anyway as the mark is not noticeable when I am wearing it and I did not want to have to pay/wait for the return. Very happy with this purchase and would be even more pleased if not for the mark on the sleeve.

High Quality coat, poor fit
from Denver, CO,  Sep 28, 2010

I really really wanted to love this coat. The quality of construction and materials was so nice. And yes, like others reviews, it has a good, not too heavy, weight to it. However, it just didn't fit right. I'm 5'6" and 140lbs. I'm also athletic build/pear shaped. I bought both the small and medium to try both and send the one that didn't fit back. The small was sleek and form fitting, (no room for bulky sweaters) and looked very nice. The medium had more room all around and just a touch longer in length, but after seeing the look of the smaller, appeared kind of bulky to me. BOTH were very tight in the shoulders and a little in the chest. I'm not a chesty woman either. Like I said, I'm pear shaped so I was very surprised at the tight fit in the upper half of the coat. I thought the skirt shape would be more flattering too but I just ended up looking like a bell. If you're into the Donna Reid poodle skirt crinoline look, then you're in the right place. But I still give it 4 stars because the quality is impeccable for the price.

Love it!!!!
 from CA,  Jan 5, 2010

I have been looking around for a trench coat everywhere. Found this exact same coat at Macy's for twice the price. SOO glad that I found it here. I got it today and absolutely love it! It a perfect fit, easy to clean, you can wash it in your washer and is perfect for the winter. I just bought the one in khaki and cant wait to get it. You wont regret buying this coat.

Great deal for the price
from St. Louis, MO,  Sep 17, 2010

Good quality coat, heavier than expected. I'm 5'5 and generally wear a 14. I would have ordered the extra large but they were sold out by the time I talked myself into it, so I ordered the large instead, hoping the other reviewers were right about ordering a size down. Coat is snug in the shoulder (but wearable) and definitely not meant for busty women! The sleeves are very long, almost covering my hands completely. Appears very well made, good workmanship. I'm keeping it since it is a beautiful coat and otherwise fits perfectly from the chest down, length is perfect as well, will have to have the sleeves altered.

Great Coat!! Watch sizing!!
from New Orleans, LA,  Sep 8, 2010

I have never owned a trench before, but after a recent trip to San Francisco I fell in love with its classic styling. I became obsessed with finding the perfect fit. I came across this item while doing some online shopping. I have owned other DKNY pieces and I have always been satisfied so I decided to give it a try. The coat is made beautifully and the weight is perfect for the kind of winters we have in Louisiana. The only problem is it is sized very big.I am 5'8" and wear a size 8. I am also broad shouldered so I ordered a large. It fit ok in the shoulders with a little extra room, but it was too baggy in the bust and waist and the arm length was too long. No more mediums in the camel. I will exchange it for a medium in black because it is tailored so well.

tight in bust
 from Maine,  Feb 17, 2012

I am 5'3" 150lbs, slightly muscular build but a little thick in midsection with full 36D bust. Due to my bustline I was going to order a large, but opted for Medium based on other reviews (I ordered the black). The medium is tight slightly in the front of the shoulders and tight with the top button secured. I don't think I will send it back for a large, however, becuase it fits very well otherwise and can leave top button undone and tie the belt and still looks very nice... and as I train for my triathlon, I may hopefully lose a little in the bust. I am just writing this, because I looked at dozens of the posts and couldn't find many people who were short with big busts say which size was better. If you wear a large, buy a large etc. The coat is uber cute and chic and will look great with jeans and with my work dress attire/heels. The bottom does flar a little in a A-shape, but looks feminine. The belt is a little high on the waistline, so may be a slight issue if you have a long waist (which I do not!). I don't think the buckle with the belt is any problem, as trenches are mostly worn with the belt tied. The quality is really nice, it wasn't wrinkled- can be worn out of the packaging. Incidently, mine took a week to get here, not bad at all, but not as fast as some stated. I had been looking a Banana Republic's trenches for months, but reviews of this years line seemed slightly dissapointing. Happy with my purchase!

Great coat!
 from SG,  Feb 12, 2012

After going through the reviews, I decided to go ahead and purchase this coat in Size L. I usually wear a UK 12 for pants/jeans, a UK 12 or 14 for dresses but may even fit a UK 10 for tops. I decided to go ahead with Size L and it fits well, with enough space for layering. The only problem is the sleeves are slightly long than I would like but that can be fixed.

  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Well constructed coat, excellent tailoring quality.
  • How accurate was the sizing? Almost perfect.

great raincoat!
from West Sussex, UK,  Sep 10, 2011

service was very straightforward and arrived within a week, which is good considering it was being shipped from the US. the raincoat is ok. It has two pleats at the front which is not mentioned in the description and can't really be seen in the photograph. had i known i would not have chosen it but - having received it - its ok. the size ordered was a 12 and is marginally smaller than a 12 in the UK. As its a raincoat, it should be used over other clothing and is therefore slightly small, but not enough of a problem to cause me go through the return process.

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? pretty much the same
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. good
  • How accurate was the sizing? slightly on the smaller side of the size indicated

A Beautiful Classic
from United States,  Jul 25, 2011

I am really glad DKNY has made this beautiful classic. It is affordable and it is a great addition to any wardrobe. I strongly suggest considering this coat. At first, I ordered this coat in a large because I read that it was sized big; however I am an extra large and the large was too small. For me, the coat is true to size. The coat is made and tailored very nicely, no alterations needed.

Runs true to size; wasn't crazy over it.
from San Francisco, CA,  Jul 24, 2011

I ordered an XS based on some other reviews and the disclaimer on the website (it says: "NOTE: This item runs one size large. Please order accordingly). I usually wear a Small in most items (clothes from Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, J Crew, etc). This was too tight in the shoulders and chest (I only had on a thin t-shirt when trying it on). The way I determine the fit of a coat or top is to try to wrap my arms around myself; if I can do that comfortably, the coat or top is a good fit. I couldn't do that with this coat -- I would've ended up ripping it if I tried. I am 5'6", 36B, waist 31", hips 38". measurement around my shoulders: 37". Arm girth (measurement around the largest part of my arm (relaxed)): 11" (My seamstress did my measurements for my wedding dress alteration which is why I have all these figures). The cut of the coat itself was ok. I thought I'd like the single-breasted look better but it didn't hang well on me. This coat made me look frumpy and shapeless. I'm in my early 30s and didn't find this coat stylish at all. The fabric, however, is quite nice. It's thicker material, slick to the touch (maybe due to the water-resistance coating to it?) and doesn't look flimsy or cheap. The coat itself has a good weight to it but not heavy. I ended up returning this jacket and getting a different one, which I hope is more stylish (http://www.overstock.com/Clothing-Shoes/Miss-Sixty-Womens-Double-breasted-Studded-Trench-Coat/5671373/product.html).

  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. good
  • How accurate was the sizing? runs true to size (despite what it says on the website)

Nice, but not without flaws.
from saint louis,  Apr 14, 2011

I would agree that this is about a size bigger than listed. That being said, I'm happy with the size that I got (XL. I'm a size 14 generally.) The arms, in my opinion, are awfully long, and I need to roll them up a bit. I'll have to hem them up about 3 inches to make them the right length for my arms. I'm not too pleased with the belt that comes with it. The buckle is useless, and if you notice in the pictures, the model is wearing the belt tied, not buckled. This makes me a little irritated. Why would a belt have a non functional buckle? Why not just make it a plain belt that is supposed to be knotted, and be done with it? I'm considering cutting the buckle off and sewing up that side to match the other side. Otherwise I'll need to find a new belt to go through the loops, because this one is not cutting it. The quality of the coat otherwise seems nice, and it is a lovely waterproof material, which is what I wanted.

  • Did the color match the color displayed onsite? yes
  • How is the quality of the product? good
  • Did the product fit true to size? no

Classy rain coat!
from New York, NY,  Oct 21, 2010

This rain coat doesn't look or feel like a rain coat, and that's what I love about it. It's surprisingly soft and very flattering. Some reviewers mentioned that the shoulders felt narrow...I have broad shoulders and a large chest (36DD) and my usual size M fits very well.

Great buy!
from New York, NY,  Oct 8, 2010

This coat was a great deal, with an amazing price. I am 5'4 and about 115lbs, and had planned on ordering a small but after reading the reviews I decided to go with XS. It runs a bit on the bigger side, so I'm glad I went with the XS. It's also a little longer than I expected, but it still works! I would highly recommend this.

Nice coat
from Greenville, SC,  Oct 5, 2010

I really like this coat. I wanted the brown but it wasn't available in my size so I got the black. The fit is nice. The only problem I had was when I took it out of the bag on the left shoulder was a blob of green paint I think. It was about the size of a pencil eraser. I thought about returning it for a replacement but after some scrubbing I manage to get rid of whatever it was. Kinda disappointed it was sent to me without that being noticed. The delivery time was excellent! Overall I am happy with it.

Perfect
from Austin, TX,  Sep 29, 2010

I read through dozens of the reviews trying to make my decision. I went with the black trench in a size small and it is perfect! It is well made and looks great on, very stylish. I am 5'7" and 120 pounds. The small fits just right... not too snug, but still has room for something thicker underneath. It isn't heavily lined, so it's not what you want for a cold, blustery day, but it will be great for fall and the milder winters we have in Austin, TX. It's a great find for a great price!

Well made but....
from Fall River, MA,  Sep 21, 2010

I recently tried a similar DKNY coat at a dept store and the Medium fit perfect. I am 5 tall (or not tall)', 36 chest and 35 hips. The coat was very constricting in the underarm-chest area, very uncomfortable. The sleeves were too long, the hip area way too large, made me look hippy and the length was a little below the top of my knee, which was too long for me. I could not even go up a size because the large would have been way too big in the hip area. The coat is extremely well made, though I think the fabric might be a lint magnet. I was almost going to keep it and live with the uncomfortable feeling, but then I knew I would end up never using it, I need a little more room in the chest area to breathe. LOL. Hope this helps if you are considering buying this coat.

Classic beauty
from Boston, MA,  Sep 17, 2010

Absolutely gorgeous! I'm 5'7 and 140 lbs. Got the medium in black. I had read reviews that if you want to have any chance of wearing a sweater or more than one layer under it, you should get a size larger. This is so true, at least for someone with my measurements: bust 33, waist 28, hip 37. There is just enough room in the upper body area and in the arms for layering or wearing a bulkier sweater. Don't think there would be any room if I had gotten the small. For my height, this coat falls just a few inches above my knees. Perfect! Can't wait to see just how water resistant this rain jacket really is.. But regardless of that, it is a well-made and very chic looking trench coat! Another review is also true though.. it definitely looooooves pet hair! 10 minutes of having it on in the apt (just standing around, didn't even sit down anywhere) and it already attracted some cat hairs from who knows where. I just won't wear it around the apt, haha!
