Beautiful design, horribly made...
from New York, NY,  Mar 1, 2009

I've had my eye on this coat for about a few weeks before I bought it. When it arrived, I was so disappointed because the coat doesn't fit true to size, the plastic belt buckle is cheap-feeling and cheap looking, and the material itself attracts every bit of lint in the air. Also worth mentioning, the material is not really shiny, as how it is displayed in the picture. Although the trench has a beautiful design, it truly isn't worth the money.

...getting there
from Boston, MA,  Jun 10, 2009

I was a little apprehensive about ordering this after reading some of the reviews that indicated it was pretty cheaply made. Turns out they were totally right -- it's not quality. When I opened the package the buttons were already trailing threads; and the feel and cut of the cotton is much what I'd expect from something from a juniors section in a department store. Unfortunately, that cheapness in cut and material makes all those buttons an effort -- they accentuate the flaws in the cut. There are also some random gaps in the front seams, near the buttons -- I can't tell if they are intentional attempts at style or if the seams opened a little! Either way they aren't noticeable unless you're holding it up looking for something wrong with the jacket, but it deserves mentioning. In order to make it look nice I have to fuss. Careful ironing should go a long way too, but there is a bit of tug-this-and-pull-that-and-smooth-this-bit I go through to make it look decent. All that said -- I'm not returning it! Adjusting and ironing are not in vain.. .I think I can wear this around campus and feel classy and not too young. I do love deep colors and that retro-vibe. At Overtock's price, it's worth having fun with even if it's not quality. The fuller skirt is very cute, very retro-pretty (but again, a younger look). On a styling note, including a nice light scarf over it will distract from the flaws in the cut. The belt is short -- meant to be buckled -- but it's worth working it into a half-bow instead of buckling; looks much classier and cinches better. Bottom line -- if you want something vibrant, cute, and budget friendly for spring or autumn, you CAN make this work.Sizing: I'm 5'1, 120 pounds, took the small.

Not what expected
 from Cincinnati,  Mar 12, 2009

I was very dissapointed when this coat arrived. Very poor quality. A button fell off while I was unwrapping it! Also, the color was slightly different than what was pictured. I wouldn't recommend wasting time or money, or the expense of sending back.

Don't Bother
 Nov 17, 2009

This coat looks very stylish but is very poorly made. I knew it was inexpensive but it's just downright cheap! Buttons keep falling off and the coat is super flimsy. Don't even bother, keep looking.

Disappointed
from Boston, MA,  Oct 30, 2009

The quality of this coat left something to be desired. One of the buttons popped off the first time I wore it, and it wasn't even buttoned at the time!! The rest of the buttons will all require reinforcement at some point soon. The fabric is thin and not good at protecting against wind. I will admit that I really like the style of the coat, and the way it looks on. I just wish it were constructed better. NOTE, the sizing is way off. I ordered a "L", and I can barely get it buttoned, forget about wearing any sort of heavy-gauge sweater underneath. The waist is fine, it's the bust area -- really snug, so if you're on the larger side for bust (D or greater), beware.

THIS COAT ROCKS!
from Philadelphia, PA,  Apr 30, 2009

MY DAUGHTER ABSOLUTELY LOVES THIS COAT. SHE GETS LOTS OF COMPLIMENTS. IT FLATTERS HER FIGURE AND LOOKS GREAT. THE ONLY COMPLAINT I HAVE THAT THAT THE TOP BOTTON CAME OFF. THEY ALL NEED TO BE REINFORCED. OTHER THAN THAT, THIS COAT IS NICE.

GREAT
from Englewood, NJ,  Apr 28, 2009

I was reading some ot the reviews and on one of the reviews it stated the jacket was cheap. I was a bit concerned about getting the jacket for that reason but I am rarely influenced by reviews. I guess its buyer beware. I purchase my jacket (purple color) a few weeks ago and I LOVE IT. Its a bit form fitting but it works. I like how it looks on me. I would definately recommend this to others. You can wear it with a pair of skinny jeans or some tights!!!

Trench Coat
from New York, NY,  Sep 8, 2011

I love the color and the style, but the coat is tighter than i expected and the belt needs to be a little longer. It is also not very high quality. The buttons all fell off immediately and it is very thin - best for late spring or early fall.

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Good
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Average
  • How accurate was the sizing? Runs small

good looks, bad quality
from Atlanta, Georgia,  Dec 17, 2009

Repeating what most everyone is saying: it looks good but is poorly made and very thin. Another complaint is that the color just doesn't look right when it is in "stand-up" mode due to the fabric wanting to fold over from it being too thin to handle that sort of construction. I get compliments on it when I do wear it, but usually opt to not.

Love this coat!
from Los Angeles, CA,  Nov 12, 2009

This coat is very comfortable, it's true to size, I'm a large/x-L but went for the XL. Even though the coat is lined, it's still pretty thin, I wouldn't recommend it for a freezing night out. But if you live in Southern California, you'll be fine. I'm petit and it doesn't look all too long for me, although I do wear heels, but even if you wear flats, it won't look bad at all. The belt makes it look very flattering in the middle area too. All in all, I love it, if it was maybe $10 cheaper I would have given it the 5 stars.

Not great
from Oswego, IL,  Oct 22, 2009

This jacket could have been much nicer. The color was great and fit was good. It looks pretty cheap though. It also gets wrinkled very easily. Would not recommend. I wish I had sent mine back, but already washed it.

The coat looks good and fits good, although movement through my shoulders is a bit limited. (A size up would've been too big, though)I have gotten many compliments on it. Overall a good, classic style for a light fall/spring coat.

A little over-priced
from Denver, CO,  Oct 14, 2009

This coat turned out to be a little thinner than I had imagined, and it's really something that I'd expect to pay $35-40 for at Forever 21. So I am a little disappointed in the price after seeing it in person.

Coffe Shope Trench Coat
from New York, NY,  Oct 14, 2009

I like the coat, but (2) buttons popped off within the FIRST week of wearing it! That is really my only complaint. It just make the coat seem...cheap. :(

from Temple Hills, MD,  Oct 8, 2009

When I received this jacket I was not sure what to expect. But when tried it one. It looks great on. I wanted the color purple because I'm always getting somthing in black. The color is perfect and looks great with any pair of jeans. Fits perfect!!! And I love it, was a great choice for me. Not a fan of purple, but after purchasing this jacket, I think ill do purple more offten.

cute but cheap
 from Washington,  Oct 7, 2009

I really like the look of this coat and have gotten lots of complements on it already. However, it is not made very well--certainly not for what the price is. I'm keeping it because it is cute, but the buttons are loose and it is very thin.

size not true - too tight
from Bay area, CA,  Oct 2, 2009

I order medium, my normal size. But it feels much tighter around the shoulders and under arms. Being 5'5 tall, weigh under 130, I don't have big arms. i can hardly button up around the chest in the way it's designed. The pros are the jacket's shell is of cotton, it has a youthful look, and the color is a very rich purple. But the collar lays flat unsightly if I do not button up all the way up to the neck. I intended to leave the collar unbuttoned when I ordered the jacket. It's to be returned with no problems thanks to the wonderful customer service at Overstock.
