Very nice only thing they aren't is waterproof... My friend's puppy ate his boots, he loved his carolina's but they were just too expensive for him right now so we started looking around and found these on overstock.com. They looked very sturdy in the photo and the soles are sewn on instead of glued...a big feature in my book. They look just like the picture, the shaft is a different color than the upper, it compliments the design. The stitching is very subtle and not outrageous as with some cowboy style boots. The toe is not advertised as reinforced, but there is definetly something there because the toes are quite stiff. The toes are also not outrageously pointed. The description doesn't say, but it feels like the soles are reinforced with a shank of some type. My only initial concern has to do with the sole, they are smooth and not jagged like the soles of many work boots for traction etc. They are supposed to be oil resistant, I suppose it remains to be seen if they are slip resistant. He put these on and wore them home, didn't complain they were tight or stiff, a couple of weeks wear will tell I suppose as to comfort but he liked all the support in the sole. I don't know how water resistant these will be, they are not lined with a waterproof liner like his old carolina folklore but those boots are over twice the price of these as well. I slapped some spray on water resist on them and a tin of mink oil is in the future once they're broke in. He will ride his harley in these and do general chores, I don't think he'll be putting them through the heck his last pair went through but for now, for this price these are a great pair of boots.
