This is a great DVD; inspirational, uplifting, and enjoyable. It is a reminder of the full life "seniors" can enjoy when they have a passion for something. I highly recommend it.
I first saw this movie on our local PBS station. I knew I had to have it, and I had to share it. I showed a portion of this film to my theology class and the discussion was one of our liveliest. This is a movie for those who sometimes feel that getting old is no fun (no matter what age you are). You simply cannot help but be re-energized by this uplifting and upbeat joy of a movie.
This is a fantastic documentary depicted an extraordinary group of elder songsters. They provide a lesson to all of us on how to approach life in later years with vim and vigor. There are 3 generations of fans in our home. Although people of all ages should find this entertaining and inspiring, it does indeed help if one is familiar with rock 'n roll music - i.e. Rolling Stones, Clash, Talking Heads. I would wholeheartedly recommend this DVD to one and all.
I watched Young at Heart in the theatre last year and I purchased the video for my cousin in NY. I loved it. It's about a senior choir that share their music with whoever will listen. Song selections are present day rock songs, given a fresh look and new interpretation. One scene has the group performing for inmates who are visibly affected by the performance. In a society that struggles to maintain it's youthfulness and devalue our seniors, this is a beautiful reality check. Life is what you make it baby.
I have watched it twice so far and it does put a smile on your face. I have recommended it to all my friends. Its good entertainment.
