Description:

Ryland, a former foreman at a New Mexico uranium mine, is tethered to an oxygen mask, deadly ill, and just praying to make it to his daughter`s wedding. His buddy Woody, a Native American, is also sick from exposure to radiation, and Ryland`s wife and Woody`s daughter band together to get some compensation. Though filled with fascinating history and plenty of political points (on the environment, on the treatment of Native Americans, etc.) YELLOWCAKE is neither a history book nor a polemic; rather, it is a rich and evocative portrait of a isolated and desolate corner of the country, and of the people--flawed, funny, and loving--who live there.
