In addition to The Invention of Hugo Cabret, Brian Selznick is the illustrator of the Caldecott Honor winner, The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins, and The New York Times Best Illustrated Walt Whitman: Words for America, both by Barbara Kerley, as well as the Sibert Honor Winner When Marian Sang, by Pam Munoz Ryan, and numerous other celebrated picture books and novels. Brian has also worked as a set designer and a puppeteer. When he isn’t traveling to promote his work all over the world, he lives in San Diego, California, and Brooklyn, New York.
From Brian Selznick, the creator of the Caldecott Medal winner THE INVENTION OF HUGO CABRET, comes another breathtaking tour de force.

Playing with the form he created in his trailblazing debut novel, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, Brian Selznick once again sails into uncharted territory and takes readers on an awe-inspiring journey.

Ben and Rose secretly wish their lives were different. Ben longs for the father he has never known. Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook. When Ben discovers a puzzling clue in his mother's room and Rose reads an enticing headline in the newspaper, both children set out alone on desperate quests to find what they are missing.

Set fifty years apart, these two independent stories--Ben's told in words, Rose's in pictures--weave back and forth with mesmerizing symmetry. How they unfold and ultimately intertwine will surprise you, challenge you, and leave you breathless with wonder. Rich, complex, affecting, and beautiful--with over 460 pages of original artwork--Wonderstruck is a stunning achievement from a uniquely gifted artist and visionary.

    • Perfect for my 5th grader

The combination of graphic and traditional novel is fascinating. It suits kids (and adults) who miss pictures in books, but relish a well told, lengthy story.

    • Amazing Author/Illustrator

Brian Selznick books are not meant for the Kindle or Nook. These illustrations need to be seen in the real book. Absolutely amazing illustrations to go along with the story! If you intend on buying, you must get the real thing!!!

    • Can't wait to give this gift

My daughter has been asking for this book. The school book fair wanted over $30 for it- Thanks Overstock for offering this book at an affordable price. My daughter is in 6th grade now- but has read Selznick's other book several times over the last few years and loves it- she can't wait for this one.

    • wonderstruck

Brian Selznick has done it again. He has created another wonderfully unique reading experience.Wonderstruck weaves two stories into one in an amazing mix of words and Selznick's wonderful illustrations. I could not put the book down, and, I finished it in one day. Not only is the book enthralling, but, it teaches us in a very subtle way about the world of the deaf. Although Wonderstruck is written for younger readers, I as an adult was more than amply entertained and enlightened. It is a book for everyone. I feel as I did when i was reading the Harry Potter series in that I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE.
