I thought this was a wonderful book addressing issues of middle age. As I read about the feelings and emotions of Jo, I identified with them. I think any women who was grew up in the 60's will have gone through similar experiences and feelings and will be able to explore them with Jo and maybe also have a cathartic breakthrough in coming to terms with life as it was for them and now is. As a middle aged woman myself I was able to forgive myself as Jo had to do and just go on with life. We can't change the past we can only embrace it and accept it as it was and forgive.
I've liked almost every one of Oprah's Book Club books with exception of a very few. This is another good one. Still reading it but would definitely recommend it.
I loved this book from cover to cover so much character in this wonder book
I cannot say I loved this book, but it was a good read. I had a hard time reconciling a woman married to a minister and would not go to his sermans and did not consult him on important issues. It seems that she was not gone for a short time, but gone all her life and didn't seem to connect with the important people in her life. I guess there are people with this outlook, but I am happy I don't know any. I would recommend it to my friends, but I would not reread it.
