Description:

As former president of the Ford Motor Company and later of Chrysler (whose fortunes he turned around dramatically), Lee Iacocca is an American legend, and an undisputed leader in his field. In WHERE HAVE ALL THE LEADERS GONE?, Iacocca is severely critical of the quality of leaders in business and government, saying they lack a sense of responsibility. Poor leaders harm their companies and the industry, and their bad decisions impact on the nation`s economy and on America`s standing worldwide. He presents a test, based on qualities he looks for in leaders, all which begin with the letter C: curiosity, character, courage, conviction, etc. , and he evaluates the announced or expected presidential candidates for 2008 accordingly. He also speaks out about America`s trade deficit, fair trade, China and India, and America`s place in the world; and he addresses domestic issues such as how greed and corruption undermine the public`s trust in business. Iacocca tells many fascinating stories (including one about the biggest mistake he ever made--which ultimately led to the fall of Chrysler). He brings the voice of experience to what he clearly sees is a current leadership crisis, and he urges Americans to take action.

    • I want my money back!

Buyer beware! What a disappointment this book has been. The title may be Where Have All the Leaders Gone, but a more appropriate title would have been I Hate George Bush and Because I am Rich and Well Known Someone Let Me Write a Diatribe Against Him. And now Lee gets to sell this book to unsuspecting people who thought they were getting a book about the lack of leadership in general. I don?t object to his pointing out what he sees as Bush?s flaws, but hey, where is Lee?s outrage now? If Bush is guilty of cronyism, why isn?t Lee screaming out against the current crop of cronies in key positions with absolutely NO experience. If Bush is guilty of ignoring the Constitution, how about the Czars we now have running major facets of government with NO approval of anyone but the president. And I love the number of appointees who ?forgot to pay their taxes.? Hope they pay more attention to detail while running the government. I?ll bet Lee is one of those who blames Bush for Hurricane Katrina hitting Louisiana, as well, as though he had control of the weather. I?d love to know what Bush did to this man to cause such a tirade! But all that aside, I resent this book being marketed as a book on leadership, which it clearly is not. If Lee wants to write a political slam, then at least be honest about it.
