Bad Caricature of Beatles Sound
The title here is misleading. This is not a compilation of various artists. This is the work of one Vinny Fazzari & Co. and should be labeled as such. Fazzari has changed the arrangements to suite his own tastes, which are, alas, a bad caricature of the early Beatles sound. And seeing as John, Paul & George Martin were often involved in the original producing of these Lennon/McCartney songs for other artists, the claim made in the liner notes suggesting that Beatles versions might have sounded like these is a dubious one indeed. Compare the haunting original Cilla Black version of Paul's "It's For You", produced by McCartney and Martin, with the hurky-jerky Fazzari version found here and ask yourself how an imagined Beatles version might sound. I love Overstock but I never would have bought this terrible CD had the description not been so misleading.
