Description:

A brief five-song EP sampler of 1960s singles released as part of Sidewalk Records` promotional Fantastic 5 series, this one includes two Dave Allan & the Arrows surf/hot rod instrumentals, "Apache `65" and "Blue`s Theme," the Stone Poney`s (their lead singer at the time was a very young Linda Rondstadt) version of "So Fine," a mournful rendition of "Soldier Boy" by Terry Stafford, and Max Frost & the Troopers` garage band-like "Shape of Things to Come." There`s no overriding theme (save for these being 1960s releases and all of the acts hail from the West Coast) and it sure is darn short, which makes it mostly an irrelevant curio when all is said and done. ~ Steve Leggett
