- Description:
- Following the nine-times platinum CONFESSIONS, Usher had a tall order to fulfill with 2008`s HERE I STAND. To his credit, the R&B sensation didn`t merely replicate CONFESSIONS, but instead moved into new thematic territory while still remaining true to his now-patented silky-smooth urban contemporary sound. Lyrically, HERE I STAND reflects Usher`s commitments as a husband and father, with songs like "Before I Met You" and "Lifetime" replacing the wild narratives of his bachelor days. R&B`s premiere player seems to have grown up.
But even given Usher`s maturity on this set, there`s plenty to please the legions of fans used to his sensual, stylish music. Opener "Love in This Club" is a soaring, thumping anthem featuring a spot by Young Jeezy, while "Part II" boasts appearances by Beyonce and Lil Wayne. "Best Thing," featuring Jay Z, blends hip-hop with Usher`s sweet soul. But the album`s real highlights--moments like "Trading Places" and the old-school-sounding "Something Special"-- feature Usher`s sexy, elastic voice unleashed to full effect, reminding listeners that just because Usher is settling down doesn`t mean that he`s getting stale.

THE LASTEST CD FROM THE VERY TALENTED USHER RAYMOND ( HERE I STAND ) WILL NOT DISAPPOINT HIS FANS AT ALL. USHER THE MAN HAS DEFINITELY MATURED, A NEW FATHER AND HUSBAND AND THIS HAS OBVIOUSLY MOVITATED HIM MUSICALLY. JUST LISTEN TO HIS LULLABY TO HIS SON, IT IS SO SWEET! BUT DON'T FRET, USHER IS STILL SILKY SMOOTH WITH TRACKS LIKE TRADING PLACES AND LOVE YOU GENTLY. THERE ARE ALSO DANCE TRACKS SUCH AS THE SMASH HIT, LOVE IN THIS CLUB. THEN THERE IS THE SMOOTH OLD-SCHOOL VIBE, HERE I STAND. BUT THE SONG THAT SEEMS TO BE THE MOST EMOTIONAL AND BY FAR THE ONE THAT STANDS OUT IS MOVING MOUNTAINS, THE MAN JUST POURS HIS HEART OUT IN THE SONG. ALSO THERE'S A HIDDEN BONUS TRACK (AFTER TRACK NUMBER 17), I AM A LONGTIME FAN OF USHER'S AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT I DIDN'T KNOW IF HE COULD COME OUT WITH A CD AS EPIC AS CONFESSIONS BUT HE HAS. BELIEVE ME LISTEN TO MOVING MOUNTAINS, TRACK NUMBER 5.

I am an Usher fan and have really enjoyed his last 2 CD's so I anxiously ordered "Here I Stand" the first week it was released. It is definitely a different sound and more of an autobiographical conversation from Usher. The lyrics are more probing (and a bit like, OK I get it you are in love and it was a rough process), but less catchy and lack some of the originality he has displayed on previous CDs. It took me listening to the CD several times (at least 10 ) before I could really begin to appreciate each song and determine my favorites. There are some standouts on the CD and I am liking it more and more each day. Definitely a more grown and sexy sound from Usher, so just prepare your expectations.
Nice CD - long awaited anticipated release. As a Usher fan was not disappointed at all.

I have to admit that I have been a fan of Usher from the beginning of his career. I like everyone of his fans could not wait for the new CD to drop. Let's just say that I have had the CD on repeat since I bought it! I would have to say my fave song on the CD is " Trading Places." High light songs include the NE-YO produced track " His Mistakes" The heart wrentching "Moving Mountains." & of course the "In This Club Part 2 w/ Beyonce & Lil' Wayne. I can sincerely say that this Cd is a listen through from the beginning to end. This is a mut have CD every Usher fan. His vocals are always on point and you can tell how much the vocals and songwriting have grown since the "Confessions" CD. All I have to say that the CD is a must for any true slow jam R&B lover. Usher keep doing what U doin.
