While his youthful start has earned the lazy comparison to Lil Bow Wow, Compton-based rapper Tyga is misrepresented by such a measurement. It`s far from a knock on Bow Wow; it`s merely that Tyga`s another beast altogether. Drawing references and beats from all over the musical map, the teenage MC is more in the Outkast mold. Opening single "Coconut Juice" transforms Nilsson`s novelty hit into a hearty club-banger with deceptively deft rhymes in the Rakim or Lil Wayne variety. Further tracks incorporate everything from old school (see the Slick Rick interpolation on "First Timers") to emo (flecked with hardcore dance on "Diamond Life").
