This four-disc deluxe box set was issued by Snapper on the fifth anniversary of the death of Townes Van Zandt. It contains all seven of his Poppy and Tomato studio offerings up until 1972, and nine songs form 1973. Unfortunately, the one recording that really counted on CD at the time was Live at the Old Quarter, Houston, Texas which is not available here domestically. Texas Troubadour may be a bit much for an introduction to the late genius, but for fans who don`t have these recordings, this is the bets possible way to get them. ~ Thom Jurek
