Tom Rush`s pop-savvy folk-rock sound made him a star of the folk world in the 1960s and `70s, but after 1974`s LADIES LOVE OUTLAWS, he switched his focus from recording to performing, and didn`t release another studio album until 2009`s WHAT I KNOW. Rush based his whole career on a tasteful, low-key style, so even for this highly anticipated album, he retains that approach. These tunes move along at a gentle clip, Rush investing them his trademark warmth and charm. Once in a while he works up a modest head of soulful steam, but for the most part, WHAT I KNOW is full of the kind of mellow folk-pop that made Rush famous in the first place.
