To Kill a Mockingbird - 50th Anniversary Edition (Hardcover)

This classic novel is just that.....classic. It is a must-read for anyone! However, I expected much higher quality in the book itself, especially considering that it is the 50th edition copy. I loved the deckled edges of the pages, but the binding and cover should have been much stronger, even at this low Overstock price. The book is very lightweight. If I were to purchase again, I'd choose a bookstore where I could actually examine the book prior to purchasing. This is a title that I want to keep in my library forever, and the quality of this book is lacking.

The service of the purchase through overstock was high as expected and I would rate it as 5 stars. However, the quality of the book itself was below par. The paper edges of the book were mis-aligned and very rough cut giving the appearance of an "irregular" or production error book rather than a book with the intended quality. I would rate the quality of the book as poor. The book cover (retro like the first edition) and spine binding were of expected good quality. Overall, I was very disappointed with the publisher’s quality of production on this book and uncertain if overstock could have had any quality check prior to shipment to avoid such a poor quality product. It was intended as a gift and a great disappointment. The author's work was not honored by the quality of the book produced.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" is my all time favorite classic. It was required reading in my Jr. High School English class. I still have that paperback around here somewhere. My sister and I went to see the movie when it first came out in theaters. We even named our finches Atticus and Scout! My entire family is aware of my fondness of "To Kill A Mockingbird"! So much so that when the movie is being broadcast on TV, one or more family member will phone to tell me so I may tune in. I have a VHS and DVD copy of the movie in my video library. However, I have never owned a copy of this classic in hardcover, until today that is. I am thrilled to have the 50th. Anniversary Edition of "To Kill A Mockingbird" in my library! As always, Overstock offered the best price around at the time of purchase. I highly recommend this timeless classic. It is as relevant today as was the time period in which the novel took place and the years since. Hopefully, it is still required reading in our schools. The movie is great, but the book is even better! They always are. Enjoy!
