Though it only lasted for one season, the CBS television series THRESHOLD made a splash with its thrilling blend of CSI-influenced crime drama and the supernatural sci-fi of shows like THE 4400. When the U.S. Navy discovers an alien spacecraft in the Atlantic Ocean, National Security Adviser J.T. Baylock (Charles S. Dutton) turns to contingency specialist Dr. Molly Anne Caffrey (Carla Gugino), who quickly recruits a highly skilled investigative team--microbiologist Nigel Fenway (Brent Spiner), physicist Lucas Pegg (Rob Benedict), mathematician and linguist Arthur Ramsey (Peter Dinklage), and covert operative Sean Cavennaugh (Brian Van Holt)--to prepare for the worst case scenario: a possible alien invasion. Gripping, imaginative, and suspenseful, the sadly defunct series is presented in its entirety with this collection of all 12 episodes (including four that were never aired due to the series' cancellation).

  • Good Show

This is one of the only sci-fi shows I have gotten into, unfortunately it was cancelled and the show storyline was just left hanging.

  • Threshold the CBS series

I've seen my share of cheesy Sci-Fi shows and Threshold is not one of them. As a huge fan of the X-Files, Star Trek TNG and Star Trek Voyager, Threshold's commencement was far better than any the aforementioned shows, IMHO. It's a travesty that the show only survived for 13 episodes, because Threshold was growing exponentially from week to week, as the stakes grew bigger every week. Just when you didn't think the writers could top last week's story, the following week was even more intense, with a more dramatic outcome. Threshold has an all-star cast. Perhaps the strangest thing of all is that you actually liked all six red team members. A lot. For me, there is nothing worse than an action adventure show that has little action and focuses half their efforts on the character's personal and emotional turmoils. Threshold (like X-Files) focuses primarily on the alien threat and the story of the week, but little by little you become exposed to the characters in the show and you grow to love them. Best of all, the characters have chemistry and some really good quips and one liners that make you laugh. As a sci-fi thriller show that sometimes gets mildly graphic (deformed human mutations, blood), the show is intense. Numerous times throughout each episode I was literally on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what would happen next. Sometimes the characters would have an occasional brain cramp on the show, but it only intensified the drama, which made it worthwhile. Unlike some of the other sci-fi shows that came out at the same time (Surface, Invasion), Threshold wasn't a bogged down soap. Threshold had its baddie of the week, which gave each episode closure, but still had the ongoing progressing alien threat to keep the viewers hanging by a thread. Threads that the writers dangled to keep you guessing how those clues or characters might play a role later on in the season. In short, as a sci-fi fan, the show has a lot of action, great character chemistry and solid storylines. Here's to hoping enough fans can make enough noise to allow some sci-fi channel to pick up the series or force a network to create a movie or mini-series.
