Differences aside, this remains the only single-disc Yardbirds best-of that gives equal attention to the vastly underrated psychedelic period featuring Jimmy Page, as most compilations focus on the much vaunted Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck years. Six of the cuts come from their last studio record, LITTLE GAMES (the only full-length to feature Page), including "White Summer," a modal instrumental that Page revisited with Led Zeppelin. Along with the deeper psychedelic cuts, listeners will find the highlights from the Yardbirds canon--"For Your Love," "Heart Full of Soul," and "The Train Kept A-Rollin`," for instance--making this the perfect start for beginners or those looking for all the essentials in one place.
