The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a Wizarding classic, first came to Muggle readers' attention in the book known as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Now, thanks to Hermione Granger's new translation from the ancient runes, we present this stunning edition with an introduction, notes, and illustrations by J. K. Rowling, and extensive commentary by Albus Dumbledore. Never before have Muggles been privy to these richly imaginative tales: "The Wizard and the Hopping Pot," "The Fountain of Fair Fortune," "The Warlock's Hairy Heart," "Babbitty Rabbitty and Her Cackling Stump," and of course, "The Tale of the Three Brothers."
The stories are accompanied by delightful pen-and-ink illustrations by Ms. Rowling herself, featuring a still-life frontispiece for each one. Professor Dumbledore's commentary-apparently written some eighteen months before his death-reveals not just his vast knowledge of Wizarding lore, but also more of his personal qualities: his sense of humor, his courage, his pride in his abilities, and his hard-won wisdom. Names familiar from the Harry Potter novels sprinkle the pages, including Aberforth Dumbledore, Lucius Malfoy and his forebears, and Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington (or "Nearly Headless Nick"), as well as other professors at Hogwarts and the past owners of the Elder Wand. Dumbledore tells us of incidents unique to the Wizarding world, like hilariously troubled theatrical productions at Hogwarts or the dangers of having a "hairy heart." But he also reveals aspects of the Wizarding world that his Muggle readers might find all too familiar, like censorship, intolerance, and questions about the deepest mysteries in life.
From every sale of this book, Scholastic will give its net proceeds to The Children's High Level Group, a charity cofounded in 2005 by J. K. Rowling and Emma Nicholson MEP to make life better for vulnerable children.

I enjoyed this little book which was written about in H.P. 7. I am among many adults who enjoyed the whole series.

My 9 yr old daughter thoroughly enjoyed reading The Tales of Beedle the Bard;. She read it in one sitting. Her favorite story was the Tale of the Three Brothers. Knowing I'm a big fan of the Harry Potter series, she said I should read it too. I enjoyed it as well. The book "refreshed" my memory of some of the characters that were only fleetingly mentioned in the Harry Potter books and not at all in any of the film versions.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Tales of Beedle the Bard. I thought that the fairy tales would be takeoffs of what we have in the Muggle world but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were all completely original stories. Dumbeldore's commentary was my favorite part. He has such an odd sense of humor. Definitely worth the buy.

I love this book. It nicely fills in the mysterious little gaps in some of the Harry books, where Ron make reference to some of these stories, and Harry and Hermione are clueless, having been raised in Muggle homes. My 11 y/o grandson hasn't read the book yet, so I don't know what his opinion would be. But I'm guessing he'll enjoy it as much as I have.

I bought two of The Tales of Beedle the Bard books for my children for Christmas. They were so excited when they opened their gifts. They had been wanting the book when it first came out. Both my children just loved the story and they are very happy with the book.
