Arthur Agatston, M.D., is a preventive cardiologist and associate professor of medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. In 1995, Dr. Agatston developed the South Beach Diet to help his cardiac and diabetes patients improve their blood chemistries and lose weight. Since then, his book The South Beach Diet and its companion titles have sold more than 22 million copies. Dr. Agatston has published more than 100 scientific articles and abstracts in medical journals, and recently he received the prestigious Alpha Omega Award from New York University Medical Center for outstanding achievement in the medical profession. He lives in Miami Beach with his wife, Sari.
This book not only describes the diet but gives you wonderful recipies and menu plans to follow. I eat so much on this the first 2 weeks I just don't see how I can be losing weight, but I am. Personally, I don't go for a different entre every day, I cycle every 3 days or so because I am the only person at my home on this diet and I didn't want a lot of left overs not being eaten. The beginning means a lot of food preparation, but that is just start-up. It gets easier to prepare meals as you get certain things on hand.
If you commit yourself to this diet, it works. I'm stuffed after every meal. I am never hungry which is unusual for me on a diet.

The book came quickly. I didn't necessarily buy it to lose weight. It was to find what foods one should be eating. I applied the doctor's program to my diet and lost a little weight without trying! So I think that if you want to lose weight this would be the book for you!
