Description:

Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation, and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever.

Best book ever

RobynJ from Dallas, TX, Jun 4, 2009

This is the best book I've ever read. If you take your own live and views into consideration and allow yourself to think out of the box you will enjoy it that much more.

Very Poorly Written

09avidreader May 24, 2009

This book is so poorly written that I couldn't get beyond the Forward. In flipping through the book the entire thing is trivial and schmaltzy. Don't waste your time.

This book was awsome. I bought 3 copies because I wanted others to read it, too and they all thought it was phenomenal! I would recommend this book to anyone! Thanks

Awesome a must read

finding from Brighton CO, Apr 26, 2009

After the deaths of 3 close family members I had the sadness and could not find the answer of why. My sister and my mother had read the book and then gave to me to read, it is the best book ever, and now The Great Sadness is better, not all the way gone, but plan on reading the book again. I have ordered 2 more, 1 for a co-worker that is having a hard with God right now, and the 2nd one for my neice who is having a difficult time in her life and has wanted to end her life. If you know someone that is having a difficult time, buy them the book it will be the best thing you can do, and we all need to keep passing it on.

The shack

excellent book with just the right amount of mystery, philisophical insights in a imaginary plot. Good book, easy read.
