Mackenzie Allen Phillips's youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation, and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, in this midst of his great sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change his life forever.
Wm. Paul Young was born a Canadian and raised among a Stone Age tribe by his missionary parents in the highlands of former New Guinea. He suffered great loss as a child and young adult and now enjoys the "wastefulness of grace" with his family in the Pacific Northwest.
I just plain loved it! I think you need to be open minded to enjoy this book if you have learned the traditional story of Jesus. I was truly inspired and wished that I had come across it earlier. Yet maybe I wasn't ready.....It was one of those books that I didn't want to put down.
I LOVE THIS BOOK.. EVERYONE ONE SHOULD READ IT. IT IS THE BEST STORY . IF YOU DON'T KNOW GOD, YOU WILL WANT TO OR YOU WILL AT LEAST WANT TO READ SOME MORE ABOUT HIM.
My eldest daughter read this book and couldn't say enough about the message revealed in the plot. I purchased my own copy and couldn't stop reading. The writer draws you into the story immediately and the characters come to life. This book had a profound effect on my spirituality. I have actually read it twice. I sent a copy of this book to my sister who was also moved by the story and the characters. This is one of the finest books that I have ever read!
One of the best books of it's time! It's for both religious and non-believers alike. It gives a whole new perspective and creates new visuals in your mind for what God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are about, and deals with any confusion and anger issues you may have with God. I have a better understanding of my own faith after reading this book. KUDOS to the author for an excellent book that has the ability to change lives!!!
This is one of the best books I've ever read. It's a compelling story, set in the Northwest. There is a horrible, senseless loss and a journey from pain and hate to forgiveness and love. I have purchased dozens of these paperbacks and given to friends, family and even strangers. I also purchased the CD and listen to it during long trips in the car. I need a refresher course in forgiveness from time to time.
