Mean Jean is the unchallenged Recess Queen, smoke blowing from her ears, a permanent scowl on her face. When new girl Katie Sue, unaware of the playground dynamic, freely runs and skips and jumps, sending Mean Jean into a dither, the whole structure of the playground is called into question. Acrylic illustrations and collage accompany the text.
