I suggested this book for my book club members. Although we haven't yet met to discuss the book, 80 percent of the members have called me to say how much they enjoyed the book and finished reading it in record time. I personally enjoyed the story because I am an agnostic. It was fascinating to see how the character Herman Langstron misused the Bible to lay a foundation his own religion with a propensity for violence, and how most of his "believers" followed and supported his actions without question. The few who did not fully believe, followed any way, or used their teachings for their own purposes like his granddaughter Ninah. The book was well written and ended well. Because of its religious overtones, it is not a book for everyone because it is somewhat on the dark side, but I enjoyed it immensely.
