This book was so stupid I thought. As an adoptee, I thought it was sooooo untrue. It sounded to me like people using the fact that they are adopted as an excuse for their problems and bad behavior. I'm talking about infant adoptions of course. It was so rediculous that I coulld not even finish reading it. I donated it to my local library.

I would recommend that every adoptive mother read this book early on after adopting a child and then, when the adopted child is old enough to fully understand its contents, they should read the book. I have an adopted daughter, age 47, we have done a search and located her family, only a sibling of which she has spoken to, and this book explains, truly, the "mortal wound" that occurs when a child is separated from her birth mother, whatever that age might be, in my case just 2 1/2 days old.
