Carol Barton teaches workshops and classes in paper engineering and book arts. She is on the faculty at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC. She is the author of A Journal of One’s Own and the first two volumes of The Pocket Paper Engineer. Her art books are in the collections of the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian. She lives in Glen Echo, Maryland.

Saving the best for last, this third installment in the crafty series highlights the spectacular V-fold, the most versatile and frequently used structure of the pop-up world. Basic V-fold construction is described in detail, demonstrating its many possible variations and making each project accessible through playful cards to detach, cut, and assemble. The most challenging of the array, this volume’s activities build in complexity upon those illustrated in the first two books, covering accordion design and techniques for producing multiple pop-up copies. Whether producing a simple card for a friend or creating a complex sculptural page, this workbook is guaranteed to inspire and enlighten those who love to play, invent, and stretch the imagination.
