i saw it on oprah and bought it on the spot its a great inspirational book the book took a little longer than i thought for it to get to me after my order had processed.

I purchased this book as a gift and as always Overstock came through with impressive results. The book is paperback, for those of you who prefer a hard back.

I found this book to be very enlightening and thought provoking. It made you reflect on your spiritual self. I saw a different side of the celebrity and marveled at his humble beginnings. I was also impressed with his love and respect for his parents. I gained a greater appreciation of my parents.

I bought this for my uncle's birthday and he said it is an awesome read. Some of things, people, and places mentioned in the book, brought back some great memories, as we are Bahamians as well.

I bought this book for my fiancée and he loved it. It is a great read. He said it was beautifully written. Personally I have been a great fan of Mr. Poitier. I collect his movies, so acquiring this book was awesome for me. When he returns the book to me I will read it also. I whole heartedly recommend this fine work of art.

I have always enjoyed seeing Sydney Poitier in any films and to read how his life began and how he overcame obstacles along the way. Hard to put it down, wanting to see what happens next. Very inspirational reading.

This is an excellent book. It makes you wake up and realize what Sidney went through to get to the point he is today. A definite book you want to keep for future re-reads!!!!

I absolutely loved this book, Mr. Poiter shares my views on spirituality and I was very excited to see my feelings on paper, especially being written by Sidney Poiter! I have always felt that he was a special person, and after having endured the spirit breaking forces he dealt with, he still remains triumphant.

No matter what your race, age or if you are a man or woman, you should read this book. It is inspiring and a will be a useful tool in raising my 4 children. I would recommend this to anyone. The world would be better place if there were more people like Mr. Portier in it!!

It was a very informative and encouraging read. Mr. Poitier's views on life, and some of his life's lessons are very inspiring. I thought that it was very entertaining.

It is a powerful book for men and women. I also purchased a copy for a friend and felt the same. The only thing that was a bummer is that when you purchae something as a gift, overstock doesn't let you include a note so they don't know where the book came from.
