These tracks were produced by Ian Levine around the mid-`80s with allegedly the original Marvelettes. A buyer beware warning should be taped on each and every copy of this CD sold. The lead on "Used to Be a Playboy" doesn`t sound like Gladys Horton or Wanda Young-Rogers. It is believed that Katherine Anderson Horton did make the sessions, but you couldn`t tell from these selections. Funny, but no attempt was made by Levine to record Ann Bogan, who replaced Horton, to sing on these tracks; she`s one of the few ex-Motown vocalists the Britisher missed. Young-Rogers reportedly was in horrible shape when these tracks were recorded, so it`s hard to fathom her delivering a quality vocal. Plastic, homogenized remakes of "Don`t Mess With Bill," "Beachwood 45789," and "Too Many Fish in the Sea" will only irritate you. ~ Andrew Hamilton
