Dan Brown's new novel, the eagerly awaited follow-up to his #1 international phenomenon, The Da Vinci Code, which was the bestselling adult novel of all time with 81 million copies in print worldwide, is now available.

The Lost Symbol had a first printing of 5 million copies, and it once again features Dan Brown's unforgettable protagonist, Robert Langdon. Brown's longtime editor, Jason Kaufman, Vice President and Executive Editor at Doubleday said, "Nothing ever is as it first appears in a Dan Brown novel. This book's narrative takes place in a twelve-hour period, and from the first page, Dan's readers will feel the thrill of discovery as they follow Robert Langdon through a masterful and unexpected new landscape. The Lost Symbol is full of surprises."

It begins with an ancient ritual, a shadowy enclave, and a secret. Again, brilliant Harvard professor Robert Langdon finds himself in a predicament that requires his vast knowledge of symbology and superior problem-solving skills to save the day. The setting, unlike other Robert Langdon novels, is stateside, and in Brown's hands Washington D.C. is as fascinating as Paris or Vatican City. The pace is relentless, revelations abound, and there is an endless parade of intriguing factoids that will make you feel like you are spending the afternoon with Robert Langdon and the guys from Mythbusters.

  • This book was interesting.

This guy Dan Brown leaves a lot to wonder as to the imagination. I had to read when I was really perky and maybe bored, with a lot of time to just pass. I'm not sure if I will be reading many more books written by Dan Brown, I guess I'll have to wait to see what else

  • Good sequel to Da Vinci Code

It's tough to followup a novel like Da Vinci Code, one of the biggest sellers ever, but Dan Brown has done a very good job with this one. These novels are really a story within a story--one a suspenseful piece of fiction, the other an historical education on the origins of Christianity and Masonic symbolism. How many Americans know about all the Masonic symbolism in the buildings of Washington and the Masonic connection of many of our Founding fathers? Probably as many as those who know about the Templar Knights and Mary Magdeline. That figure to the right of Jesus in Da Vinci's Last Supper sure does look like a woman to me--how did I miss that 20 years ago when I was in Milan and saw the painting (it was dark and I was a good distance away). I have to wonder what else we'll discover in Brown's next effort.
