In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, The Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth still it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell, by chance, into the hands of the hobbit, Bilbo Baggins.
From his fastness in the Dark Tower of Mordor, Sauron's power spread far and wide. He gathered all the Great Rings to him, but ever he searched far and wide for the One Ring that would complete his dominion.
On his eleventy-first birthday, Bilbo dissapeared bequeathing to his young cousin, Frodo, the Ruling Ring, and a perilous quest: to journey across Middle-earth, deep into the shadow of the Dark Lord and destroy the Ring by casting it into the Cracks of Doom.
The Lord of the Rings tells of the great quest undertaken by Frodo and the Fellowship of the Ring: Gandalf the wizard, the hobbits Merry, Pippin and Sam, Gimli the Dwarf, Legolas the Elf, Boromir of Gondor, and a tall, mysterious stranger called Strider.

The Lord of the Rings box set by J?R.R Tolken ( Ha
I perchance this as a gift. The first seat arrived damaged. Called overstock they sent out new set arrived in time for Christmas. I was very happy with Customer service they where great help. My sister was very happy with this set. Thank you Overstock for every thing.

Awesome Boxed Set
I looked for a nice Lord of the Rings boxed set for my husband for quite a while before I came accross this set. The price was good so I bought it for him. It looked very nice in the pictures but I was a little hesitant that the quality would not be that good. I sure was surprised! The quality is excellent! The pages of the book are very smooth and kind of shiny like you would find in an encyclopedia. The books are a little taller than I expected and very substantial. If you are just looking for a set for reading quickly, this is not the set for you. This is a set to read, cherish and display!

Product fine, delivery slow
The item is as indicated and in new condition. However, do not order it if you are pushed for time as in too near Christmas or a birthday. The books took over two weeks delivery time.

Bigger than I anticipated
Classis story, worth owning on hardback! Nook and Kindle is one thing, but I will always have this book! We had a slight complication with shipping. We received the books the first time and it looked as though the carrier had just thrown the box around and damaged the product! We contact O and they sent another set, no questions asked, given that we returned the damaged! Everything worked out great!
- How did the image on site compare with the actual product? The actual size was much larger than I thought! I was thinking these books would be about the same size as the Harry Potter books.
- How accurate was the on site description of the product? Great... I may have overlooked the production dimension sizes, but if not the illustrations and text is a great size!
