It generated the fantasy novel industry practically single-handedly, inspiring a multitude of novels concerning elves and dwarves on quests to conquer ultimate evil despite overwhelming odds. Although The Lord of the Rings was originally published as a trilogy, here it is presented in a single set, as Tolkien always intended.
The Dark Lord Sauron, an utterly evil and powerful being, is stirring again after a long period of dormancy. He will soon dominate all of Middle-earth if he is not stopped. The key to Sauron's defeat is Frodo, nephew and heir to Bilbo Baggins -- the hero of The Hobbit. The magic ring that Bilbo picked up on his adventures is in fact the One Ring, into which Sauron deposited much of his power. If the Ring is destroyed in the volcano at the heart of Sauron's realm of Mordor, Sauron too will be destroyed. Unfortunately, the longer someone bears the Ring, the stronger grows its ability to corrupt the bearer and those around him. Product fine, delivery slow
The item is as indicated and in new condition. However, do not order it if you are pushed for time as in too near Christmas or a birthday. The books took over two weeks delivery time.

Bigger than I anticipated
Classis story, worth owning on hardback! Nook and Kindle is one thing, but I will always have this book! We had a slight complication with shipping. We received the books the first time and it looked as though the carrier had just thrown the box around and damaged the product! We contact O and they sent another set, no questions asked, given that we returned the damaged! Everything worked out great!
- How did the image on site compare with the actual product? The actual size was much larger than I thought! I was thinking these books would be about the same size as the Harry Potter books.
- How accurate was the on site description of the product? Great... I may have overlooked the production dimension sizes, but if not the illustrations and text is a great size!
