Ernest Hemingway's short story THE KILLERS was turned into two memorable films noir at the beginning and the end of the high period of the genre. This collection features both films. The original 1946, directed by Robert Siodmak, version stars Burt Lancaster as the Swede, an aging boxer who is brought in on for an underground job. The 1964 Don Siegel version stars Lee Marvin and Clu Gulager as a pari of gunmen scouring a seedy underworld. See individual titles for further details.

The Killers
This two disc set includes both the exceptional 1946 original with Burt Lancaster and Ava Gardner, and the 1964 remake with Ronald Reagan(his last film role), John Cassavetes, and Lee Marvin. Although it doesn't stand up in comparison with the original, it includes some very good performances. The original has one of the greatest Noir openings ever.

Excellent Film Noir
The Killers is an awesome movie.....this Criterion Collection edition is a must have for film noir buffs. As always, Criterion has done an excellent job...... This movie does have some dark themes, so I would question whether younger children need to view it.
