J.R.R. Tolkien's classic prelude to his Lord of the Rings trilogy featuring cover art by Caldecott Honor winning children’s book illustrator Peter Sis, this edition of The Hobbit has been specially formatted for young readers. Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely traveling any farther than his pantry or cellar. But his contentment is disturbed when the wizard Gandalf and a company of dwarves arrive on his doorstep one day to whisk him away on an adventure. They have launched a plot to raid the treasure hoard guarded by Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon. Bilbo reluctantly joins their quest, unaware that on his journey to the Lonely Mountain he will encounter both a magic ring and a frightening creature known as Gollum.

  • Excellent Book Choice

This is an excellent book for the price. It is a hardcover "school edition." (School edition means that the binding has extra support to last against multiple uses and abuses in a school setting.) I found the book was in an easy to read format that had large margins in case I wanted to add notes. Also included are several pages of illustrations.

    • How did the image on site compare with the actual product? Image matched perfectly. However, I would have also liked an image of one of the pages to see how it was formated.
    • How accurate was the on site description of the product? Lacking information about book art
    • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Excellent quality for the price.
