I bought this book for my brother who is just learning to cook out on his own. He doesn't have a lot of time, etc, so this book looked perfect for him. I think it will be useful, as it contains a lot of basic info including how to stock your kitchen with supplies, along with a wide variety of recipes. One thing I really liked was that it included nutritional info for each recipe, wow! One thing I didn't like was it contains some not-so-truths. It says that eggs, particularly egg yolks, are not very good for you. It advocates using only egg whites or even artificial egg whites, which contain almost zero nutrients. Meanwhile the yolks are very nutritious foods, containing good cholesterol and fats that your body needs. It also advocates using skim milk which is also not that great for you. Other than that I think this is a good starter cook book for people with busy lifestyles.
