Grooming is an immensely rewarding and creative line of work that can provide you with an excellent income. The groomer is an artist, the creator of incredible living sculptures – as well as neat, practical styles. This book will provide the information you need to select your tools and equipment ,so that you buy wisely. Step-by-step, it will help you to develop your skills to styling each dog exclusively. But professional practice is about so much more than the creation of a piece of art: it is also a science, based on a systematic approach to understanding and observing the physical appearance, behaviour, and nature of a dog. The responsibilities of the professional groomer should never be underestimated. Uniquely positioned and qualified to promote the welfare of the animals in their care, they are a valuable link between owner and vet. A thorough understanding of the dog as a species, with a good working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease control, parasitology, behaviour, psychology, and the many breed specific problems are necessary to the profession. This book will provide all that’s necessary to enable the reader to be the best groomer that they can.
