The book is a classic, however, one of the CDs (number 6) was another book. That ruined it for me. I don't necessarily mind a careful abridgment but to miss one seventh of the story is a shame.

The Good Earth is a classic. I read the book many years ago and was looking forward to listening to it on CD. However, disk #4 was a total waste.....speeding up and repeating sentences, skipping, and not moving forward.....it was very frustrating. Disk #5 began the same way, but ultimately settled down and the rest was fine. In spite of the poor CD quality, the story is still beautiful. My rating is really about the CD quality which marred my ability to thoroughly enjoy the story.

I listen to audio cd's on my long daily commute. This one is one of the best yet. It is an interesting. wonderfully told story rich in Chinese culture. I shop for audio cd bargains and this was a good price.

Great story, and lots of listening time for your money. I listen to audio books while I commute. This one made me want to get in the car in the morning and it lasted for many trips!
