The Friends of Eddie Coyle
This is a great film though many will not remember it. That is why it is a service that Criterion is doing by releasing this again and including a great booklet filled with some grat insightful articles about the filmmakers and the star, Robert Mitchum. This is certainly one of his best performances. This is modern noir, understated and gritty and permeating realsim. It's quiet and steady and sneaks up on you by the end. You never see the impact coming until Eddie Coyle does by the end of this thoughtful and well acted film. Paul M.
