The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate by Gary Chapman (Paperback)

This book is a tad too preachy and biblically centric, but that does not detract from its over-all value in terms of understanding relationship interplay. I have given away copies of this book, in spite of the bible references, merely because it has a valuable and easy to quantify structure for determining how one interacts with others, expecially in intimate (love, friendships) relationships. The five languages are: Gifts, Acts of Service, Quality Time, Words of Affirmation, and Physical Touch. It helped me determine my own situations and has helped countless friends of mine as well. I would recommend it, with the codicile that it is a little too quick to refer to religious references when none is needed to convey the basic wisdom the book offers. Without the biblical focus, I'd give it five stars overall.

This book was very insightful for my husband and myself. Though we already knew in a sense what made each other tick when it comes to love, it was nice to have some one spell it out in a way that we could have the other understand. There is a quiz at the end for each person to take that let's you know what your love language is and after taking this we read together each other's language. It will be somewhat hard to begin focussing on what makes my spouse feel loved, but this book sparked my mind and our relationship will truely benifit. I would reccomend this for newly weds and couples who have been married for years.
