This series is top quality viewing. I only wish I'd thought to get it months ago! If you loved Upstairs, Downstairs, you're in for a real treat. In fact, I might prefer it to the latter or at least, I like it just as well. The time period is contemporaneous, but taken from the point of view of a woman who works herself up to the position of a famous cook in London. The story lines and characters are very memorable. Don't miss this series, and you might as well purchase Parts 1 and 2 at the same time. Believe me, you won't want any interruptions -- it's excellent. What an addition to my collection. I'm ready to start watching it all over again!

Good entertainment, well written, and very British. Some insight to the days of King Edward and British Society. Well written with an occasional slow segment, but keeping characters true from segment to segment, and illuminating the foibles of life in those days.
