The Dixie Dregs truly came into their own as an innovative musical force with their 1978 third album, WHAT IF. Part jazz fusion and part progressive rock, Dixie Dregs defied genres as much as they embraced them all with their dense, kaleidoscopic instrumental expeditions. True to form, WHAT IF features individually outstanding performances by the Dregs` always capable members, which included guitarist Steve Morse (Deep Purple), bassist Andy West (Mike Keneally), and Rod Morgenstein (Platypus, Winger) among its ranks.
