In a definitive guide to digital photography, the author of the best-selling The iPod Book delivers a comprehensive overview of the latest in digital technology, including cameras and equipment. Kelby also reviews the fundamental techniques and skills of the photographic process -- exposure, lighting, shutter speed, depth of field, and resolution -- and tips on how to escape hours of photo-editing by taking great photographs the first time.

In 209 pages, Scott Kelby manages to give many practical and condensed recommendations on how to get the most from your digital camera. As he says, these are the kind of tips he would give to a buddy who's accompanying him on a photo shoot. The topics covered include gear, shooting flowers, weddings, landscapes, sports, people, travel and getting good prints. All this without getting bogged down in too many technical details and sprinkled with his wry sense of humor. If you understand the basics (and even if you don't), he gives good advise on when to use which settings. He mentions Photoshop, but this is not a Photoshop book. It's about getting the best shot before you bring it into Photoshop or some other program.
Book is insightful and very helpful. Written so that no matter what your experience, you can follow his direction.
This book is all I hoped for and more. The author has an amazing sense of humor and puts everything in layman terms so anyone can understand.
If there is ONE BOOK you buy about digital photography, let it be this. This book isn't all about focusing on shutter speed, apetures, f-stops, etc. He gives advice like you would if you too were just shooting together. Not "this is the reason why" but "if you want that shot, do this." Gives good advice on equipment, times to shoot, and what glass to use. Focused on Nikons and Canons.
I bought this book as a Christmas gift for my sister and HAD to take a peek through it. It had so much good information that I might either have to borrow it from her or buy my own copy!
A great book. I've purchase two. One for myself and another as a gift. I teach photography and plan to purchase more. Each chapter explains specific photo shots. Easy and a fun read.
