Most folks know the duo Crystal Method best as a genre-blending duo famed for mating electronica with pop, rock, and hip-hop. Scott Kirkland and Ken Jordan have always presented themselves as a band, rather than a transient electronic "project." Nevertheless, the pair apparently couldn`t resist using their dancefloor smarts to create their first remix album, COMMUNITY SERVICE. Here they incorporate tracks by everyone from fellow electronica maven Orbital (Plump DJ`s mix of "Funny Break [One is Enough]") to rap-rockers P.O.D. and Rage Against the Machine and pop-rock mainstays Garbage. Whatever style they step into in the service of their in-the-mix mania though, Kirkland and Jordan keep things eminently danceable, whether they`re funking up the hard-as-nails sound of RATM or enveloping Garbage singer Shirley Manson in a web of electronic atmosphere.
