This book/CD-ROM package is designed for K-6 teachers, curriculum coordinators, and other educators who lack computer lab teacher training but who are responsible for technology education. The guide begins with advice on lab set up, Internet security, and ergonomics, then presents 10 units, each containing two or three lessons, on areas such as digital citizenship, Internet research, messaging and communication, multimedia presentations, virtual fieldtrips, and blogs and podcasts. The lessons are keyed to National Educational Technology Standards for Students, and include lists of materials and equipment, step-by-step procedures, ideas for guided and independent practice, and evaluation methods. Each lesson also includes extension, remediation, and accommodation ideas. The companion CD-ROM, suitable for any operating system, platform, Web browser, or Internet connection, contains worksheets, quizzes, and multimedia presentations to accompany the lessons.
