The Complete America`s Test Kitchen TV Show Cookbook (Hardcover)

I bought this as a gift for my father and he loves it! Great food recipes!

I gave this to my mother as a christmas gift and she LOVES it. We used it to make many wonderful things while I was visiting (mac & cheese, tomato soup, cookies... ) I made a turkey for the first time in my life using the "for a crowd" recipe and it was so moist and flavorful. Everyone raved! I'll be buying this book for myself. My mom is an experienced cook, and I'm a novice, but we both had great success with every recipe and didn't want to tweak a thing.

If you are a beginner or experienced cook this book is a must have. Everything is described in great detail , you have to really try to mess up these recipes. I have yet to make one that my family didn't love. When I serve something new I just tell them its from this book and they don't question it. I have even heard my husband recommend this book to coworkers who complain about their wives cooking. This is my bible in the kitchen , I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with it.

There were two versions of this cookbook on O's website, one priced slightly more than the other, one with an image of the book and one without (newer posting). When I checked the ISBN numbers on the web I found the more expensive one has been updated with 2012 recipes, so I bought that version. It seems they may have updated the book at least twice now since the first printing, so it may get updated annually. Book arrived fast and as advertised, and at the lowest price I could find on the web at the time. I don't know if it has every Test Kitchen recipe, as some say not, but it's a heck of a lot of recipe's, more than I'll ever make. The recipes are well written, easy to follow (though often recommend food processors, mixers, Dutch ovens and special pans, which often can be worked around if you don't have a specific item). For this non-cook, I expect it will be very useful...I no longer feel like I don't know how to cook for guests, I can just follow the directions. Test Kitchen makes a recipe a zillion different ways to get the best recipes, so all the testing is done for us, we can just make the best version right out of the book. Some are complicated, but they also have MANY easy recipes (single skillet). There is a recipe for just about anything I might ever want to make. The book itself is nicely laid out, organized and categorized, and especially helpful are TK's recommendations on specific cooking products (hardware, consumables, edibles). The overall font is a little small and the recipes run into each other (that is, they are not on separate pages), which is necessary to get so much information into a book of reasonable size. Still, the book might be a bit large for kitchen use while actually cooking. Unless you are using a book stand, you may want to copy more complicated recipes for use in the kitchen, so the book doesn't get messed up. Binding looks a little cheap (the book was inexpensive), it may or may not fall apart over time. The paper was nice quality, with lots of color pictures (most every page had helpful pictures of many (most?) of the dishes,and even for doing more complicated steps within the recipes). The side of the book had some excess binding glue spill out to the side (page edges), but that was easily rubbed of, and the pages don't seem to stick at all. So, the binding may not be the best, but nothing bad. I'm just not sure how it well it will hold up to years of use. Overall, the product meets my expectations, I think it was a good purchase.
